IS YOUR WATCH FOGGY? HERE'S A SAFE WAY TO REMOVE FOG FROM YOUR WATCH

Watch Studio Lovers, have you ever found condensation on your watch? Often, due to condensation, we cannot see the watch dial clearly. Moreover, we worry that our watch might retain moisture from the accumulated condensation. If this moisture is left unchecked, our watch could rust and get damaged. Therefore, Watch Studio will tell you how to safely remove condensation from your watch. But first, you need to know why condensation appears on your watch.

Causes of Condensation on Watches

The first reason could be that your watch's seal is damaged. A damaged seal allows moist air to enter the watch, leading to condensation. The watch seal is usually located around the crown or back case of the watch. Another common reason is a sudden change in temperature. If you don't store your watch properly and there's an extreme temperature change, condensation is highly likely to form on your watch. Condensation can also appear if your watch is not water resistant but gets exposed to rain or if you submerge it in water. Therefore, the water resistant feature is very important in a watch.

Safe Ways to Remove Condensation from Watches

  1. Submerge in Cat Litter

For those of you with cats, your cat litter can be a first aid solution when your watch has condensation. Simply pour your cat litter into a sufficiently deep container, then completely submerge your watch in the cat litter and wait for at least 12 hours. After 12 hours, you can check if there's still any condensation left on your watch. If there is, you can put it back in the cat litter and check periodically until no moisture remains.

  1. Submerge in Rice

Similar to using cat litter, you can submerge your condensed watch in rice. Leave it for at least 12 hours, and if there's still residual moisture, you can submerge it again and check periodically until it's no longer moist or there's no more water residue from the condensation.

  1. Using Silica Gel

Silica gel is a product you'll often find when purchasing items that require consistently dry storage conditions, as silica gel effectively absorbs moisture. For a watch with condensation, you can store it with silica gel in a sealed container. Leave it for at least 24 hours or until all condensation has completely disappeared. Additionally, we recommend continuously using silica gel in your watch storage to absorb moisture and extend the life of your watch.

  1. Wrap in a Dry Towel

Another method is to use a dry towel with soft fibers. Wrap the watch with the towel, especially the condensed part. Make sure the back of the watch, where the moisture will escape, is facing downwards. This process, compared to other methods, will be slower, but it is quite effective in absorbing moisture from the watch.
